Information and Services
Thanks
for inquiring into the services
at Anatomic Studios. We are pleased to have the opportunity to
share with you a little information about our products and services.
Our focus at the studio is to represent the human form in the
context of artistic and historical accuracy. Artistically speaking,
we strive to supply our clients with superb craftsmanship and
also the use of quality materials, which are applied with a trained
eye for accuracy and detail. Our highly-skilled artisans mold
and sculpt the human form according to the client specification. We are
also able to work with the clients existing mannequin stock and add
touch-ups,replacements or alterations.
Most often we will either cast from life or sculpt a likeness
for character reference, depending on the specifications and scope
of the project. Our figures are durable and can be made from flexible
skinlike materials or fiberglass reinforced forms, which are the
standard for the industry at this time.
Anatomic Studio strives to attain the latest knowledge in casting
materials in order to meet the needs of our clientele.
The
types of museum forms can be categorized into these three groups:
polychromatic realistic, monochromatic, and duo-tone. The polychromatic
figures are the most lifelike, duplicating the flesh tones of a
realistic form. These figures
are produced with facial hair and wigs. The eyes are made with
glass eyes or hand-carved and skillfully painted as human eyes.
The monochromatic figures are painted in one color or tone. These
have an almost ghostlike appearance and are often used in historical
context. The duo-tone figures represent a painted finish with
two or more tones or colors, and the colors are sometimes hand rubbed
to attain the desired finish.
A
very important aspect of our figures is the special attention we
deliver to the costume design and construction of garments. Each
costume is specially designed, and all fabrics are hand chosen
by the costumer and client. Often, clothing may be provided by
the museum, and we will then work with the sizes of the existing
costume. We also distribute a flexible form mannequin that can
be used for displaying costumes. Costume research and accuracy
in gesture and manners is all important in producing quality forms,
and we take an academic approach to making quality museum and
exhibit figures.
Thanks
again for your interest in our work.
